Winter Fun

The past few years has seen Bansko gain a reputation like no other for its high standard skiing facilities at unrivaled prices. Blessed with the region's best snow record, often up to two meters thick. The ultra modern Gondola only takes 30 minutes to reach the exciting new ski center which in the quiter season boasts no ques and minimum wait due to the SkiData chip-card passes that never need to be taken out of the pocket. This allows you to spend more quality time enjoying over 70 kilometers of marked ski runs and cross country tracks, 80% supported by snow cannons.

Bansko ski also offers a snowboarders paradise with a half pipe, rails, bumps and jumps, you can even build your own in the Platoto area fun park! Ski form the slopes directly into the town at night under the flood light or venture off piste, experience paragliding or maybe go all out as heli skiing is also available locally. With such amazing surprises the only limit is you!

Après Ski

Unlike many other resorts in Bulgaria, Bansko offers the exceptional apres ski due to having retained its traditional charm not only in its architecture and cobbled streets but in the warmth of its local people and traditions. Bansko taverns called "Mehana", of which there are about a hundred, offer exceptional value, local fresh food and old town atmosphere as many offer open roaring log fires, live folk music and good selection of Bulgarian wines. An excellent three course meal including wine will only cost around £10pp, a snip compared to the Alps.

Many local cafes and bars offer refreshments throughout the day while Night clubs such as Brilantin and the Amnezia, work without time limit and usually close early in the morning. For a rest day off the skis the Strazhite Hotel offers a bowling arena and a welcome addition to the off slope activates has been the elegant 5 star Spa and Wellness centre located in the Kempinski Hotel Grand directly opposite Kandahar. Summer Fun

Wake to majestic backdrop of mount Pihrin on a fresh blue sky summer's day in Bansko. Regularly famed for its excellent skiing the summer and autumn months still remain a well kept secret from the hordes. It will be of no surprise once you have experienced the surrounding area that it is a Unesco World Heritage site totaling 40,447 hectares with 175 lakes of crystal clear mountain water. The area is rich with animal and plant life with 1100 species of flora, 102 types of birds including eagles and falcons and 42 species of mammals such as bears, deers and wild horses. Many of these naturists' sights are unique to the area. With its well-developed network of mountain paths and marked walkways, Bansko is a tremendous play ground for walkers, mountain biking, rock climbing, white water rafting, horse riding and caving.

Hikers will be stunned to find tremendous open sided log huts along their path with fine bar b ques at their disposable, stop off for a bite to eat or shelter for the night on your way to one on the lakes, waterfalls or caves. For those that love a challenge there is a sturdy trek across the whole range which takes you to Petrovo village near the Greek boarder, this exciting journey can take between 7-10 day on foot.

Bansko's unique appeal continues with more than a 150 cultural monuments, including many from the national revival period made of stone and timber built behind fortress style walls, where one can fine craftsmanship. For an extraordinary excursion take a trip to the Rila Monastery the most holy place in the country. Or visit one of the many golf courses that are popping up around Bansko. Natural Hot Springs

Banya is situated 5 km from Bansko between the three big mountains: Pirin, Rila and Rodopi. It is famous for its mineral hot springs with high therapeutic qualities. The healing effects of the thermal springs in these mountains have been famous since antiquity. There are more than 70 hot mineral water springs in Banya with average temperature of 58°C.
